Concentrations

Within the Information Technology Ph.D. program, seven concentrations are offered:

• Statistical Science
• Operations Research
• Systems Engineering
• Information Systems
• Information Security
• Software Engineering
• Civil and Infrastructure Engineering

These concentrations may be of interest to students with specialized interests in these topic areas. If a student completes the requirements for the concentration, then the degree conferred upon graduation would be "Ph.D. in Information Technology with a Concentration in …"

Choosing a concentration narrows the flexibility of the program. It is not necessary to choose a concentration. In particular, for students doing interdisciplinary research a concentration may be inappropriate.
