The Volgenau School Spring Awards Gala

Each spring, The Volgenau School of Information Technology & Engineering at George Mason University hosts an annual Awards Gala. This event is an outstanding opportunity for our School to celebrate excellence among our students, faculty and alumni and to recognize our loyal corporate supporters. Join us this year as a sponsor. THE VOLGENAU SCHOOL OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING DEAN’S CORPORATE RECOGNITION AWARD

The Dean’s Corporate Recognition Award is a new award, which will be given annually at The
Volgenau School of IT& Engineering Awards Gala. The award was created by the dean of the school
to recognize an outstanding corporation in the Northern Virginia area. Eligible corporations must have
made a significant difference by demonstrating a commitment to higher education through
philanthropy and innovation.

Corporations can submit nominations for their own company or choose to nominate a company of
their choice. All applications will be reviewed by the Dean’s Corporate Recognition Award’s
Committee. Nominations received after the deadline date will not be considered.

The nomination, which can be submitted in letter format, should include items such as the examples
shown below. Please limit your summary to three pages or less.

• Evidence of consistent investment in higher education.

• Evidence of direct gift support such as funds used to initiate educational programs, provide scholarships, etc.

• Description of impact of gift support to advance higher education initiatives.

• Description of specific achievements accomplished through the organization’s efforts and funding as it relates to the development and delivery of educational programs, especially in science, math, engineering and technology.

• Evidence of supporting education in the work force and society through direct service programs that are related to, but not limited to, student recruitment, mentoring, guest lectureships and teaching.

• Evidence of creating educational opportunities for diverse populations, especially those underrepresented in science, math, engineering and technology.
