• Applied Information Technology
  The Masters in Applied Information Technology  is a premier program that focuses on teaching the next generation of IT leaders in the Federal sector. The program’s structure builds: analysis & management, leadership & ethics skills on information technology foundations; thus preparing graduates for the added complexity of mega-systems. Pending approval by the state of Virginia, this program is slated to begin Fall 2008.

Department of Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering

• Civil and Infrastructure Engineering
  Concentrations available in construction management, engineering management, environmental systems engineering, facilities management, transportation systems engineering, and water resource systems engineering.

Department of Computer Science

• Computer Science
  Concentrations offered in artificial intelligence, computer systems; image processing/graphics; parallel/distributed computing, or software engineering.
  
• Computer Science Online
  GMU now offers the Master of Science in Computer Science degree online. The initial offering focuses on courses in our Systems and Networks area. This is an extension of our regular MSCS, using the Internet course delivery we have pioneered over the past few years, at no extra cost to the student.
• E-Commerce
  The program is designed to prepare graduates with the depth and breadth they need to take advantage of electronic commerce opportunities in commercial and enterprise management opportunities in the "new economy." They will be able to understand management, public policy, and information technology aspects, and effectively integrate these in developing electronic commerce solutions in a wide variety of specialized applications from electronic government, to electronic banking, to tele-health.

  The theoretical and practical aspects of specifying, designing, implementing, and managing information systems.
  
• Information Security & Assurance
  Designed to prepare graduates to fill the current and future need for information security and assurance professionals to work in a wide variety of capacities to protect the information systems of different types of organizations and to support the nation's information infrastructure.
  
• Software Engineering
  Specialized knowledge and experience in developing and modifying large, complex software systems. This master's emphasizes technical and management aspects of the software engineering process.

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

• Computer Engineering
  Concentrations available in computer networks; high performance computing; microprocessor systems; signal and image processing; and VLSI/VHDL design, verification and testing.
  
• Electrical Engineering
  Concentrations available in communications, control and robotics, electromagnetics and optoelectrics, microelectronics, signal processing.
  
• Telecommunications
  An interdisciplinary blend of engineering-oriented courses in communications systems, networking, computers and software combined with courses on telecommunications policy, law, business, international aspects and other. Designed to meet the needs of working professionals and full-time graduate students.

Department of Statistics

• Statistical Science
  Special tracks in applied statistics, computational statistics, engineering statistics, federal statistics, and statistical signal processing.

Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research

• Operations Research
  Mathematical programming, queueing and network theories, computer simulation and modeling, applied and computational probability, and the application of these to realistic problems.
  
• Systems Engineering
  Systems design, development, and management, associated with problem formulation, issue analysis, and the evaluation of alternative courses of action. The program emphasizes both analytical and practical aspects of engineering complex systems.
